Blood Angels Gets 2 Warhammer 40k Character Kits
Games Workshop has revealed two more Blood Angels kits coming soon including a caped primaris Sanguinary Priest and a musculoskeletal Captain. The kits were revealed on Monday on the Warhammer Community blog, hot on the heels of the Blood Angels announcement.
The new Primaris sons of Sanguinius were revealed exactly one week after the new Blood Angels Army Set was revealed. The set also includes new models for classic Space Marines Chaplain Lemartes and Astorath the Grim.
In the usual way, Games Workshop did not confirm a release date or price for the new Blood Angels characters. However, it does state that they will be released “later this year, along with the fantastic new Codex Supplement and other upgraded Blood Angels”.
Our estimate, based on the pricing for similar chapter-specific Space Marine character kits like the Black Templars Marshal, is that they’ll each cost around $37-40 (£24-26).
Primaris Sons of Sanguinius Joins Blood Angels
A Blood Angel variant of the Apothecary battlefield medic, the Sanguinary Priest has a diminished profile compared to its 2013 predecessor. It wore a fetching custom chain-sabre and held his chalice outstretched rather than hoisted.
However, you do get two choices of helmetless heads. Each sports razor-sharp cheekbones and the classic Apothecary helmet option enhanced by auspex. Plus a pauldron and goblet detail on the right glove.
Now, Primaris Captain is similar to the Dark Angels Master Lazarus or Primaris Captain and Black Templars Marshal kits before it. However, the Blood Angels-specific Primaris Captain kit is more detailed and includes drips and weapons to make him different. Setting him apart from other heroes of other Warhammer 40k factions.
Besides the ripped armor, the pauldron gets a choice of three decorations: a winged chalice, blood-dripping wings, or a winged blood drop chapter symbol spread. There are tasteful blood drop details on most weapons.
