Thoughts on Captain Marvel

This movie has gotten mixed reviews from what I heard. Some people loved it, some hated it, others thought it was a "meh" movie. For those of you who saw it, what did you think of it and why?

I feel like all these super hero movies seem to neglect the plot and only focus on CGI

Yeah, I heard it was all over the place and there was no great character development with the main character.
