Warhammer 40K: Khârn the Betrayer
Of all the Warhammer warriors, maybe none have fought more battles or eclipsed as many victories as the World Eater, Khârn the Betrayer. This Chaos Space Marine from the World Eaters Legion begins his story within his faction. here he is considered the greatest of all Champions of Khorne, fighting his way through the ranks to become Captain of the Eight Assault Company.
Miraculously, this warrior came close to death only twice The first of which occurred during the early crusade when the Primach Angron became uncontrollable and was imprisoned by the Emperor. Many soldiers were dispatched to woo him to lead his army to the battle. One by one he killed every single soldier that dared to try.
However, Khârn was successful. He was brought close to death but due to his bravery, Angron spared his life. The World Earter convinced him to lead the army and find more than enough enemies to express his wrath. They would fight many battles, eliminate armies and conquer planets.
The second time that Khârn came to the gates of death, was during the siege of the Imperial Palace. He was at the forefront of each assault and rushed in without fear or mercy. When the battle stopped, his body lay on top of the mount of the dead bodies.
Most believed that he was dead but when his fellow World Eaters took him aboard the ship, he was suddenly revived. And he never came close to death again. Despite his endless battles, he always came out on top.
Nonetheless, Khârn was not called a ‘betrayer’ until the Battle of Skalathrax, between the Emperor’s Children and the World Eaters. During the battle, he led his fellowmen who were winning the fight. However, when they stalled at one point, he became angry and started killing everyone – including his men.
His move destroyed his army which disintegrated and formed small bands but were never able to unite again as a legion.
