Pontifex Zenestra Comes to Warhammer Age of Sigmar
Games Workshop has introduced a new army called the Cities of Sigmar, which features a unit called Pontifex Zenestra. The studio outlined who they are and what exactly can be expected from them in this war.
Pontifex Zenestra, a member of the Cult of the Great Wheel, channels the religious zeal of the Cities of Sigmar army. The cult believes that wheels are divine symbols of King Sigmar’s power,
According to the post, it is for this reason that Pontifex Zenestra enters the battlefield seated on a palanquin. She is carried into battle by her servants using their strength and stamina.
In addition, Pontifex Zenestra is a Vessel of Sigmar, that can sanctify the earth, granting units a ward rating of 5+. Her palanquin has been blessed with divine power, granting her a ward of 4+.
The Great Wheel Turns can revitalize units, adding 2+ of movement to them, and Cast Out Evil. Inflicting every enemy wizard and priest on the battlefield to suffer mortal wounds if he rolls a 2+.
Even so, all that divine power takes its toll on the palanquin bearers. A few months are all it takes for a muscular youth to turn into a withered husk. Yet, new followers are always waiting to fill their places.
It is unknown who Zenestra is or even where she came from. Rumors abound, including her not being human and her coming into contact with Sigmar’s sacred Warhammer, Ghal Maraz. However, it may appear clearer after the launch of the handbook and more information becomes available on her origins.
Zenestra appears to be one of many being prepared to serve the Cult of the Wheels and lead the cities of Sigmar to battle. As her force becomes closer to the enemy, her victory is assured. Her power yields the defense of her rival being eliminated by magic.
