Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Realms Of Ruin Goes Live Next November
Developing studio Frontier Developments has confirmed the release of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Realms Of Ruin this November. During a live presentation hosted on Gamescom, the studio announced the release along with the game trailer.
One of the most interesting points highlighted in the video was the name of one of the four factions that will participate in the Realms Of Ruin gameplay. Known as Nighthaunt, they are the undead servants of the god of death, Nagash. Their strength lies in attacking their foes with ethereal units. Nonetheless, they do not attack alone, if not in hordes that swarm their opponents.
In addition, the studio shared some of the Warhammer units that will be available in the new release. Some popular units such as Awlrach the Drowner, chainrasps, banshees, grimghast reapers, and mournguls can be incorporated.
Moreover, this has been the third faction that has been revealed. In an earlier tease, two other groups, Stormcast Eternals, and Orruk Kruleboyz, were identified. Each has a different fighting style and attack format. Even though there are some similarities between Kruleboyz and Nighthaunt.
Both factions attack using their units in swarms. However, Krueleboyz sends its stronger units after swarming its opponents.
On another note, lead designer Sandro Sammarco shared his optimism about the current game. During the live preview, he said:
“We wanted to tell a story that’s not a gigantic, bombastic Lord Of The Rings special, There’s room for that, and Age Of Sigmar does that very well, but we wanted to do a little bit more of a character study. For myself, the motivations of characters — who they are, what drives them — is very compelling.”
The release of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Realms Of Ruin has long been anticipated by the Warhammer gaming community. It won’t be any surprise of the huge pre-sales numbers that will hit the pre-release announcements.
