Warhammer 40K Necrons Gets New Code
All the celebration noise might just drown out the news that the Necrons are getting a new codex. And guess who is back – good old Imotekh the Stormlord with a new plastic miniature!
It has been a long time since Imotekh the Stormlord was reborn. He has been serving as a leader for the Necrons in a resin figurine. Now he is getting an upgrade to a plastic version.
As an analogy to undead creatures in fantasy settings, the Necrons in Warhammer 40k are the Xenos equivalent. They are immortal cybernetic beings based on both the Terminator movies and the Egyptian dynasties of old. Taking to the battlefield with technologies beyond mortal minds.
Imotekh isn’t the only new Necron model coming, but the Stormlord is the only one shown. At least we got a peek at two of the new Necron Legions:
A big part of the Hypercrypt Legion’s playstyle is the ability to move quickly and teleport around the battlefield. It is a playstyle that pays homage to the Necrons’ old school playstyle and their ability to quickly move around the battlefield and quickly reposition infantry.
Necron army’s debut detachment, ‘Awakened Dynasty’, provides the Command Protocols rule, which gives all units with a Leader a blanket plus one on any to-hit roll, plus any other buffs the Leader provides.
There is not much change to the classic Monolith vehicle’s ranged weapons. Except for the ability to teleport into the mid-board and unleash crowds of Warriors into battle, it’s all the same. In the 10th Edition, however, its Toughness is increased by 75%, creating one of the most heavily armored vehicles in the game. Even though heavy bore lascannons will wound it on a 5+.
There’s more to look forward to in this codex. It will follow the same format as the Tyranids and Space Marines codexes. So expect more Necron Legions, enhancements, relics, strategies, etc.
