Who Are the Dark Angels In Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition
It is said that half of the Space Marines embraced dark gods and turned to Chaos ten millennia ago. Committed to hunting down the traitors who are the Fallen, the robed angels hunt Luther the enigmatic most of all.
A new codex for the 10th Edition includes Deathwing Knights, a new Belial model, and an upgrade sprue for regular Deathwing Terminators. There are new models for Interrogator-Chaplain Asmodai and Inner Circle Companions, but no release date has been set. This post will focus more on the changes to the rules and lore in the Codex than the models themselves.
This edition of the Dark Angels Codex removes a few key units, such as the Deathwing Command Squad, Talonmaster, and Strikemaster. However, the Ravenwing Command Squad remains, even though its bone counterpart is gone.
Inner Circle Companions are a new addition to the Codex, available in squads of three or six (105 or 210 points). All are equipped with Calibanite Greatswords, which have four Strength 6, AP -1 attacks, and you can choose either the Strike or Sweep profile.
In both instances, lethal damage is dealt by the former with Damage 2, while sustained damage is dealt by the latter. If there is a character in the unit, enemies roll against them with a penalty of -1, and if they attack a character in turn, they are +1 more likely to hit them.
As it stands, Deathwing Knights can still use their Maces of Absolution. The elite unit carries two weapon profiles plus three more for the Knight Master. Power Weapons work the same as in the vanilla Marine Codex, though Maces give up one attack for one AP.
In the Dark Angels roster, Lion El’Jonson and Azrael have been the biggest losers with 15 points each, while the Ravenwing Command Squad has increased by an amazing 40 points, up to 185 points, and can only be taken by three at a time.
