New Kroot Pre- Order Release This Weekend
A new wave of Kroot releases is going up for pre-order this weekend, and while we didn’t get a chance to build them, we got a good look at them – and now you will too! The Kroot Trail Shaper, Lone-spear, and Hounds are expected to arrive soon, so here’s a little sneak peek.
First, the new Kroot Trail Shaper. He’s all about leading his fellow mercenaries in advantageous terrain to strike from ambush. His pose is “hunting rifle ready for reload.” And he’s commanding at the same time.
Unlike most of the newer Kroot kits, this one is a little smaller and rides a warbeast called a “Kalamandra”. You can choose between a long rifle or a hunting spear. This could be the winner since he is as fast as most newer kits.
Who Are the Kroot?
According to the Warhammer Fandom, Kroot are humanoids that served in the T’AU Empire:
“The Kroot, also designated by the Imperium as Kroot Carnivore, are a xenos species of savage humanoids who are members of the T’au Empire. The Kroot evolved from avian creatures on their homeworld of Pech.”
These humanoids are taller than men and are somewhat related to birds:
“They are tall (a good half-meter taller than most Humans), their avian ancestry giving them a bird-like beak and long quills protruding from their heads like hair. Smaller quills, possibly the evolutionary remnants of feathers, can be found scattered over their bodies.”
According to the lore, these humanoids’ origin can be based on their earlier diet. they tend to feature traits from the creatures that they ate. It may sound funny, but that is what makes it Warhammer.
“A unique feature of the species is that they evolve by selecting genetic traits of their defeated foes to absorb by eating them. Due to this, the many Kroot warbands across the galaxy often look radically different.”
