Conquest Set to Launch 2 New Starter Sets
On May 31, Conquest: the Last Argument of Kings will be releasing a two-player starter set with armies from the game’s most recent factions, City States and Sorcerer Kings. The set costs $189.99, and it is set to be released on May 31.
It features 12 elemental Ghols, 12 professional Rajakur soldiers, a sorcerer, and three Djinn facing off against 12 Thorakites. The game also carries 12 Hoplites, three companion cavalry, and an Ipparchos mounted on a horse.
Similar to Warhammer: The Old World, Conquest involves players maneuvering large, unwieldy blocks of infantry and cavalry in order to gain favorable positioning ahead of combat. Unlike classic Warhammer, it uses a simpler combat resolution system that only allows units to make melee attacks during their activation. This should be familiar to Kings of War players.

As a 2019 release, it does have some very modern ideas. It has an alternating activation system, in which you will begin your turn by assembling a stack of order cards, which lock in the sequence of the units you can activate.
The more powerful a unit is, the more likely it is to be delayed in arriving on the battlefield, causing staggered unit deployment. This is similar to the system Games Workshop has revealed for Age of Sigmar 4th edition Spearhead.
Two review samples have been sent to one player, but he hasn’t had time to play the game fully. Not only are the miniatures on a very large scale of 38mm, but the range is full of massive monsters.
It gives the range an incredible presence on the tabletop, but the building and painting of miniatures is proportionately slower. It has crunchier rules than Kings of War, and simpler rules than Old World.
