Games Workshop to Open New Factory for Warhammer 40,000
GW is moving forward with its plans to build a new factory to meet the high demand for Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
The Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar miniature production company Games Workshop has announced plans to build a fourth factory. Factory four will add 43,750 square feet of workspace at its Nottingham headquarters.
The popularity of Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar, and the other miniature wargames that Games Workshop makes has steadily increased since 2016. In 2023, Warhammer 40k 10th edition further boosted interest in painting miniatures.
Games Workshop reported plans to set up a fourth factory in January to serve its ever-growing customer base. On June 4, the firm submitted a formal planning application to Nottingham City Council.

According to a report published by the Nottingham City Council, the plan was needed for the company to meet local demand. The planning application states that “the proposed Factory 4 (F4) will contain the packing operation that is currently split between existing Factory 1 (F1) and existing Factory 2 (F2).
Separating the miniature production and miniature packing workflows into specialized factories is also likely to improve productivity. This will free up an equivalent amount of space in the old factories.
Additionally, Games Workshop plans to double its existing tool storage capacity by adding an extension to the existing 1980-square-foot tool store. In miniature manufacturing, tools are steel molds that are used to cast miniatures.
Tools have a long lifetime, so the studio can produce miniatures from its back catalog whenever it needs to – Space Marines never go out of style.
With the new storage space, Games Workshop may be able to produce the same miniature on multiple casting machines simultaneously, pumping out popular kits at maximum efficiency.
