Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II Has Gone Gold

According to a Twitter post by Focus Home Interactive, Space Marine II has gone gold and will launch on September 9, 2024. This means they’ll have exactly two months to polish the game before an official release.

“Gone gold” is a shorthand way to describe a game’s completion and readiness for release. The full term is gold master and expresses a game in its optimum state of creation. Everything the developers want to add to the game has been included in the most recent build

Interestingly, the term originated in the recording industry, where gold masters were literally made from gold. So, a disk would go gold, in its truest sense. When a game goes gold, all the files on the game disk will be locked away, and the physical manufacturing of the game disks can begin.

While it took Focus Entertainment‘s Twitter account just a few seconds to get the word out, the dev team has exactly two months to ensure perfection.
