New Edition of Warhammer Underworlds Coming
Warhammer is about to enter the depths of Embergard to plunder its treasures with nothing but a fistful of dice and a deck of cards when Warhammer Underworlds new edition launches in a few weeks.
There are many changes made to Warhammer Underworlds in this new edition. While the core experience remains the same, there are significant changes that promise to make the game even better.
The two things that defined your warband in the past were your Fighter Cards and your unique deck of Ploys, Upgrades, and Objective cards. This has now changed. The studio says
Fighter Cards remain, and you still flip them when a fighter inspires. The Design Team has retuned the stats for every fighter in the game, and there is a new stat: Bounty, which signals how much Glory you earn for killing them. Decks, however, are now all universal in the new edition, and a warband’s unique rules are now defined by their Warband Warscroll. This ensures a warband’s unique rules are preserved no matter which deck you use.

This card has two sides: one side features lore and a shot of the miniatures, and the other side features the Inspire condition and the Warband Abilities – another new mechanic.
There are some abilities that can be activated every round of battle, like the Emberwatch’s Alone I Stand! Other abilities may be powerful, once-per-battle abilities. The Lightning Bolt symbol indicates that certain Emberwatch abilities are Surge abilities.
As the Emberwatch is all about taking the fight into enemy territory, Zikkit’s Tunnelpack engages in perilous behavior like the Clans Skryre. However, Warp-charged and More-More Power! give bonuses in exchange for injuring or killing your own fighters.
This explosive Kaboom! is one of the Core abilities – you’ll be familiar with most of them, as Move, Attack, Charge, and Guard are all returning along with the new Focus.
Focus is designed to give you an out when you just don’t have a card you can play – a situation known as a “bricked hand”. To Focus, simply discard any cards from your hand and draw a replacement for each type, as well as an additional Power card. it comes at a cost: using it too much will leave players with little Glory to score or Power Cards to play.
