First Founding – The Ultimate Space Marine Lore Book

During last year’s Black Library Celebration, we got a taste of The First Founding – a book packed with background lore and art about the nine original Space Marine chapters who remained loyal to the cause throughout the Horus Heresy.

Calling it “simply put”, Games Workshop gave a rather long description of the lore book.

First Founding is the culmination of decades of Space Marine lore condensed into a single coffee table-style book, with sections written by star Black Library authors Guy Haley, John French, Nick Kyme, David Guymer, and Callum Davis. It’s one of the most complete guides to the Space Marines and their history ever produced, and it uncovers the inner workings of the nine progenitor Chapters across over 300 pages of background information and glorious artwork.

Have you ever wondered why the Iron Hands give their deployments to their tech-magi, or even what it is like on the surface of Nocturne? This book provides a great overview of the Adeptus Astartel, as the histories of these founding chapters echo down to their many successors.

This Deluxe Edition comes in a dashing blue cowhide-effect cover with silver foil details on the front and back. It has the same awesome content as the regular version, but it comes in a bit more of a specialty cover.

Furthermore, it comes packaged in a sleek blue presentation box that echoes the front cover inside and houses all of the premium extras.

Each Deluxe Edition copy comes with nine zinc alloy coins inscribed with the logos of each Chapter from the Dark Angels to the Raven Guard, which sit nicely in the back of the presentation box in case you want to display it with the cover open. They’re paired with a set of nine art prints showing each of the Chapters in their element – whether it’s two Space Wolves duelling for their Lord, or a White Scars Librarian channelling the storms of Chogoris.
