Warhammer 40,000 TV Series In Development At Amazon, Henry Cavill Attached
Hold onto your axes, gang…Warhammer 40,000 may soon be getting its Hollywood break. THR just broke the news that Games Workshop, longtime owners of the property, have been in negotiation talks with Amazon Studios over the rights to produce a TV show.
What corner of Warhammer lore will this be about? Will it adapt the tabletop game or one of the video games? No one knows yet. Because this production is so early, no writers or showrunners have been hired to start work on it…besides one. Actor Henry Cavill has been picked as star and executive producer.
It’s been quite an up-and-down month for this guy. It wasn’t that long ago that Cavill was the star of Netflix’s The Witcher and in talks with Warner Bros to return to the role of Superman. Then he quit the Geralt of Rivera role, and then a change of management at WB shut him out of the Superman gig. That could have left him with nothing, but he just rebounded nicely!
It will probably be at least two years before we see a Warhammer show on Amazon Prime. And a lot could happen within that time — the series is not a guarantee at this point. But it’s got Cavill!
The series will be produced through Vertigo Entertainment. More info will come as we receive it.
