‘Big Things’ Coming Soon in Warhammer Cinematic Universe
Action movie star, Henry Cavill, expressed his excitement about being a central figure in the Warhammer 40K cinematic universe for Amazon Studios, speaking with Collider. During an interview with the media, Cavill expressed how much he looks forward to being the central character of Amazon’s Warhammer 40K film universe.
As the former Man of Steel explains, the upcoming projects will involve “big things” as he gets to transform a favorite game from his childhood into a live-action feature
Last December, Cavill’s Warhammer 40K cinematic universe was officially greenlit by Games Workshop and Amazon, kicking off the pre-production process for the titular TV show.
In 2022, a year before its official confirmation, the British actor expressed his interest in playing Warhammer 40K on the screen. The upcoming series will precede future films based on the popular miniature wargame.
“I have loved Warhammer since I was boy, making this moment truly special for me. The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inceptionis quite the honor and the responsibility,” he said. “I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh-on lifelong dream come true.”
Besides Warhammer 40K, Cavill will also star in The Witcher, adapted from the eponymous fantasy action role-playing series and books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. After Cavill portrayed Geralt of Rivia throughout the series, Hemsworth took over as the main character in Seasons 4 and 5.
In the Warhammer 40K universe, Cavill has not yet been announced as the lead character. However, he will be an executive producer, and most likely have a prominent role in shows and films.
Attempts to adapt Warhammer 40K to TV and film have failed before, with the last feature-length film, Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie, receiving poor reviews after its release on DVD.
