Games Workshop Rewards 18 Million to Workers
Warhammer figurine maker Games Workshop reported a stronger sales year and increased profits in 2023. The company said it distributed “cash rewards “on an equal basis” to all employees. In recognition of its employees’ contribution, the study disbursed £18 million to them.
More than 1,500 workers work at the company’s headquarters, as well as in stores and offices around the globe. Last year, the company paid out £11 million in “group profit shares” to its employees.
According to Games Workshop, it expects its pre-tax profit for the year ended June to be at least £200 million, up from £171 million the prior year, while its total sales are expected to have grown from £445 million to £490 million.
Games Workshop Share Profits to Workers
On Wednesday morning, the company’s share price rose by as much as a tenth after a short update to shareholders. The company sells figurines and miniatures online and in shops across the UK for the hobby Warhammer
As a result of selling its intellectual property to entertainment and gaming companies, Games Workshop made £30 million last year. This year, Games Workshop finalized an agreement with Amazon to make films and TV shows about the fantasy games.
Related to the Amazon contract, Henry Cavill, who has said he enjoys the hobby, is set to create a Warhammer Cinematic Universe. The series will be based on its hit Warhammer 40,000 franchise.
According to an article on Wikipedia, Games Workshop produces one of the largest hobby-based games in the world. The feature described the project as “Warhammer (formerly Warhammer Fantasy Battle or just Warhammer Fantasy) is a tabletop miniature wargame with a high fantasy theme. The game was created by Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley, and first published by the Games Workshop company in 1983.”
The study has since sold millions of copies, hosted worldwide tournaments, and is set to launch a new TV series.
