Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – Last Preview
Previews are flooding the web on the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and they are based on the last gameplay early access. Here are some of the insights from the most popular game sites.
Starting with The Gamer, one must agree that the combat description intrigues players and fans piquing our interest in immersing in the game.
“Combat is squad-based, letting two friends join you for co-op missions. The bot squadmates in the campaign were competent but not extraordinary, doing their part during massive horde battles and reviving me when I needed it (which was often until I had the controls figured out), but Space Marine 2 is clearly designed with multiplayer at the forefront. In addition to the main storyline, there are PvE missions that detail other engagements on the same planet, which is where the bulk of gameplay will likely take place – play the campaign to learn the game, then dive into multiplayer.”
Space Marine 2 Best Preview Picture
This image taken from the Bells of Lost Souls (BOLS) is the best of the preview images that are out there as of August 08. Soon others will come along, but I like the trophy note to the left screaming out “Vry Good”.
We get back to BOLS a little later. Turning the focus to IGN, one of the biggest out there, they started the discourse with a summary that came up just shy of a thumbs-up vote. The website noted that the early onset of the game has “some interesting drama”. There are no heated battles or mention of an unbelievable Warhammer 40k Tyranid hive fleet.
“I had access to the first little bit of the campaign, which has Clive Standen (aka Rollo from Vikings) giving an inspired, gravely performance as Captain Titus from the first game, who is immediately embroiled in some interesting drama with his new squadmates due to his checkered service record. They ultimately set that aside, though, to do battle with the Tyranid hive fleet threatening the soaring gothic spires of the imperial world of Avarax.”
As mentioned, I have saved the best for last. here is the conclusion of the Space Marine 2 previews, copied in BOLS’ own words.
“Personally, I can’t wait to dive into the campaign with some buddies and tackle it. And then, once I’ve wrapped that up, I’m looking forward to some of the longer-tail activities to do. I’m really looking forward to the PvP scene to see how that develops. I put a lot of hours into the first Space Marine PvP side of things. I’m curious to see how this one stacks-up.”
