Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Review
This sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is great. Demetrian Titus is back as the protagonist after serving during 2011’s original. In a universe overrun by Tyranids, Chaos rules, and you carry your religious flag across worlds. Space Marine 2 may be your best play yet.
There is no denying that Space Marine 2 is a fun, engaging campaign matched with a challenging (at least against bots) PvP mode, and a cooperative PVE mode that promotes cooperation.
Space Marine 2’s campaign can be played in co-op, but only the opening mission. You will control Titus, Chairon, and Gadriel, each with a special ability. Titus gains strength and regenerates health constantly.
Inside Space Marine 2 – Gameplay Trailer
As a result of Gadriel’s howl, enemies are flung away from him, causing massive damage. Finally, Chiron can mark enemies in an area for extra damage. The campaign spans three worlds and is divided into six main operations. Each operation has long sub-missions that take roughly seven hours to complete.
Your initial aggression will be focused on the Tyranids. They are a hive-mind of distant bones and teeth and will overwhelm you with a mix of melee attacks and ranged attacks.
In this game, you will have multiple pieces of armor that can regenerate if you do not take damage for 5+ seconds. Once said armor is gone, you will start to lose health, and the only way to regain it is to either use a Stimpak or Titus’ special action.
If an enemy flashes red, you can gain armor back. Clicking on the right stick lets you execute them with dozens of animations, depending on the type of enemy and the type of weapon you’re using.
Finally, there are several types of enemies and you don’t have to worry about the entirety of the campaign focusing on the Tyranids. The last few levels, especially the last planet, contain some of the most surreal set-pieces ever.
