Warhammer 40K: Castellan’s Crowe Wielding the Blade
Among the Grey Knights, there is one who wields Blade of Antwyr. He belongs to Purifier’s order and is the bearer of burden, a daemon sword that is indestructible that no mere mortal can touch. Garran Crowe is a renowned Castellan Champion, a fierce and powerful soldier of Warhammer 40k.
Birth of a Hero
It is said that death removes and replaces kings, and so it was with Garran Crowe. When the old swordsman of the Blade of Antwyr, Merrat Gavallan, died, the young soldier took control of the blade. Yet, he would never enjoy the bliss that he sought. The sword only brought him spiritual and physical demeanor, leading him to peril.
According to the Warhammer 40k storyline, Crowe was swept into endless battles. At times he was pitted against raving mortals with no desire to surrender. And just when he found a victorious moment, he is pushed against daemons that are attracted to the evil aurora of the blade.
However, that is not the only problem that he faces. Crowe faces mental battles against the weapon. Should it manage to convince him to endless treasure hunt, he may soon become trapped in the realms of the darkest magic. This kind of sorcery is more than a burden and is in no way a blessing to him.
Moreover, this is what makes Garran Crowe a special swordsman. He refuses to use the magical powers of the blade against his foes. Instead, he fights his battles with his own strength and skills, using only the physical properties of the weapon.
In addition to his personal struggles, Crowe must defend his order and faction. When the planet of Birmingham was seized by the daemon Skulltaker‘s Blood Crusade in 888 M41, He aided in the defeat of the Daemon World. During the battle, Crowe challenged Skulltaker in single combat. He managed to weaken the daemon long enough to allow the Grey Knights to defeat the daemon horde.
