Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin Announced
There were a lot of new things announced during today;s Warhammer Skulls showcase…one of the first, and most interesting, was a new real-time strategy game called Realms of Ruin.
As you likely know, there are two worlds of Warhammer 40000: the tabletop game series, and the video games. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin (the full title) is a direct crossover between those worlds, taking a setting that previously only appeared in the tabletop game and translating it for the video game medium.
The Realm of Ghur, aka the Realm of Beasts, was introduced as part of the narrative in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle TTRPG. Realms of Ruin will be set entirely in Ghur and its story will be written by Gavin Thorpe, author of several Black Library books and a designer at Games Workshop.
Gameplay is your basic RTS: command your forces from an overhead view. strategically position your resources for offense against the enemy while keeping a defense around the portion of the map that is yours. You’ll control one of four factions, two of which being the Stormcast Eternals and the Orruk Kruleboyz (the other two will be revealed at a later date).
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is being developed by dev team Frontier Developments (Elite: Dangerous, RollerCoaster Tycoon). No release window has been announced yet.
