Warhammer Dwarfs Faction Gets New King
During Wednesday’s Adepticon preview stream, Games Workshop displayed new and returning miniatures, including a Dwarf King. The preview of Warhammer: The Old World displayed the new Dwarf king borne aloft by shield bearers.
There will likely be an Arcane Compendium supplement for Warhammer Dwarfs/ This will include background, rules for special characters, and variant Armies of Infamy. This may include the fan-favorite Slayer army that was in the 6th edition Storm of Chaos campaign.
Notably, four new Warhammer Dwarf models are in this release. A plastic character kit builds both a Dwarf King with shield bearers and a Dwarf Thane. One will be armed with a great weapon, the other with a hand weapon and shield. Plus, two new resin character kits are on the way from Forge World: a Dwarf Thane with a handgun, as well as Ungrim Ironfist, the future Slayer King of the Ironhold.
The Dwarf Faction Box Sets
The most recent plastic Dwarf infantry kits will be back in production. The Dwarf Warriors can be armed with hand weapons and shields. Another box can be built as crossbow-wielding Quarrelers, handgun-wielding Thunderers, or even Dwarf Rangers
Initially, these iconic Dwarfs will be available in a new battalion box from Dwarfen Mountain Holds, which will include:
- Dwarf Warriors x 32
- Dwarf Quarrelers, Thunderers, or Rangers x 32
- Dwarf gyrocopters / gyrobombers x 2
Games Worksho[ also plans to reissue a variety of other models in a variety of different materials. Some of these will be available only on a made-to-order basis, and no release date or price has yet been announced.
In addition, collectors of Dwarf models will be pleased to see the return of the Doom Seekers and Goblin-Hewer models. These models were released as part of the Storm of Chaos global participation campaign in 2004. These kits are set to be followed by the wood Elves faction.
