Warhammer Set to Retire Older Space Marines
As Warhammer gaming fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the Next Space Marines Codex, Games Workshop has announced that it will be retiring an array of space marine units from its stores. Some players who have become fond of the miniatures factions may not be too happy about this but are not worried about it either, since the developer has promised to replace them with an arm and a leg.
In all, Games Workshop will be removing 14 pieces. However, this is not the first time that they have removed pieces that are not functional in the new setting. That is to note that their role is no longer necessary for the game, or that they do not require the services that these pieces provide.
The company has priorly removed the Terminators, Vanguard Veteran, and vanilla Dreadnought, among other pieces in the past. An added benefit is that these pieces are placed on sale before being removed, giving hobbyists an opportunity to snap them up in time.
Space Marines make up the largest faction of the Warhammer franchise, and in some cases, the game developer chose to replace them with newer models such as Sternguard Veterans, and Terminator kits. All the old kits that are being replaced existed before the larger ‘Primaris’ marines were introduced in Warhammer 40k eighth edition.
