Why Warhammer 40K – How Far Is Too Far?
As the Warhammer community celebrates the inclusion of Henry Cavil onto the Amzon production set, there is silence. The series is coming to the screen with all that it is. Why Warhammer 40k? How far will Cavil need to go?
Firstly, just to lay things out upfront, Cavil does fit the bill. He has been a Warhammer hobbyist since he was 10 years old. Plus, he has told every public media that his favorite pop-culture theme is Warhammer. Not to make it worse, he just got off from The Witcher. That does not include the caped superhero in the Man of Steel.
However, what is Warhammer all about? How do you make it into a series? Warhammer occurs in a universe built around the end of the Renaissance theme. A world where scientific advancement, research, and politics as we know it have eroded into the distant past. And mankind lives only to die in an eternal war.
In addition, pain, death, magic, witchcraft, and brutality have become ingrained in our naturality. The war against aliens has erased any hope of peace and instead, they struggle to prevent human annihilation. The Imperium of mankind is no longer a concept, it becomes a threat to other life forms. Likewise, humanity falls prey to its lowest instincts as the fittest of the fittest race to survive.
Furthermore, if anyone might be able to do this, it might just be Henry Cavil. Just as the world initially rejected him as the chosen Superman, only to raise two thumbs when he donned the cape. The Warhammer community, along with Amazon, is putting all at his behest.
Will he be able to squeeze hope out of the grim universe lined with rage, wars, monsters, and despair? Can he find a way to make the rejection of science an option? Can he rekindle the dead rebirth of learning Torch without slaying Warhammer?
Truth is, we may never know until our producer dons the cape again.
