The Astra Militarum is modeled after the valiant warriors of Cadia, but they are not the only famous combatants defending humanity. Even when millions march to a violent death for the God-Emperor, one planet stands out for its grit and loyalty, and sometimes conflict is made up of cruel, shameful meat grinders that are fueled by an unending stream of human sacrifice. The Death Korps, now in plastic, have arrived to put things right with their traditional fatalistic resolve as the galaxy descends further and further into disorder and madness. Armored Combat Engineers, artillery pieces, and the solemn Death Riders on their oddly altered horses are just a few of the brand-new miniatures included in the Death Korps of Krieg Army Set.
World Championships of Warhammer: The Death Korps
Lord Marshal Varnan Dreir, a steely-eyed battle veteran who has made it through a perilous journey from the trenches of the average warrior to the highest levels of command, is in charge of this formidable group. He still commands his men from as near to the front lines as possible, in true Krieg form, and is well-respected for having already carried out the numerous heinous acts he demands of those under his charge, much to the ongoing dismay of his superiors.
Dreir is a skilled strategist who does more than just send in the next wave, which is uncommon in the Astra Militarum, let alone the Death Korps. However, his steadfast refusal to die is what makes him infamous among commanders. There are rumors that the Emperor himself prefers Varnan Dreir since he and his horse, the catchily called ES819, have repeatedly avoided death.
In massed units of Death Riders, swift, line-breaking cavalry that rushes headlong into defensive formations, many Death Korps warriors, like their Lord Marshal, take to the battlefield mounted on Krieg horses. Equipped with lascarbines for close-range shooting and frag lances for thundering charges, the Army Set includes a whole squad of ten riders.
