Warhammer Quest to Be Delisted on Steam
Another Warhammer license is coming to a screeching as Warhammer Quest announces that it will soon delist on Steam. In a thank-you note to supporters, game development studio Chilled Mouse, relayed the sad news that its game license had expired.
“New sales of Warhammer Quest will end shortly on Steam”, a recent news post for the turn-based dungeon crawler tersely says. “Thanks for all your support for this game over the years.”
the official Chilled Mouse account said, “I don’t think it’s appropriate (or probably even allowed under our agreement with them) to discuss the details of the license. But I can say that Games Workshop have been fantastic partners on this game for us, they have been very generous with the interpretation of the agreement and I really think you’re being unfair to them. All good things come to an end eventually.”
The tabletop game of the same name from Games Workshop was adapted into the 2015 video game Warhammer Quest. It’s a board game/RPG hybrid that resembles regrouped Advanced Heroquest and blends a dark, hazardous underground with an only marginally less dark overworld where you heal in towns and the plot unfolds.
Warhammer Quest 2 will continue to be sold and is not connected to this news, according to Chilled Mouse. Despite the fact that neither the conclusion of the sales nor the possibility of a discount have been specified. Warhammer Quest’s removal from GOG is also uncertain because the company hasn’t responded to inquiries for comment.
Warhammer Quest’s delisting comes after the removal of a number of Warhammer licenses over the past few years. On October 12, 2023, Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf was discontinued. Age of Sigmar: Champions and Warhammer 40,000: Regicide were both delisted in the year 2022. Only three years after its debut, the latter was canceled. The market for officially licensed games is harsh.
