Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Postponed to 2024
The Christmas gifts for 2023 will be missing the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 release, as the game has been delayed. Game development studio Focus Entertainment has informed players of the postponed release of the game.
There has been a delay in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s release date, pushing it back to the second half of 2024. The launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was originally scheduled for this winter, but Focus announced a delay due to “execution of the lineup and partnerships”.
This is a major delay, something Focus Entertainment announced in an update today. Time Marine 2 was supposed to launch before the end of 2023, but now that we’re into November, a delay is not surprising.
According to Focus’ revised release schedule, Space Marine 2 will now be released on Xbox One Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC in the “second half of 2024.” Focus said the delay will allow the game “to be properly polished to ensure the best possible experience for players”.
However, this is not a great way to mislead fans. Recently, various trade shows have seen Focus Entertainment showing the game, dropping extended gameplay trailers, and acting as if a release date is near.
In addition, the game has always shown well, and Saber has given the press and media access to it, most recently at Gamescom. Players spoke highly of the game’s meaty action, weighty animations, deep combat, and on-point atmosphere.
In August, this came in the form of a nine-minute “extended gameplay trailer”, highlighting Space Marine Lieutenant Titus’ battle against the Tyranids. Since the series hasn’t been updated in 12 years, it’s likely fans will be more than happy to wait a little longer if the sequel lives up to the expectations.
As a reminder, Space Marine 2 will hold a beta at some point, for which you can still sign up, so you might be able to play a bit earlier than the second half of 2024.
