Game development studio and miniature giant, Games Workshop, has announced the addition of two new combat patrol sets. Both sets will hit the pre-order market on November 25, 2023.
according to Games Workshop, both Combat Patrol: Necrons and Combat Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus will be available for preorder on November 25, 2023. The new sets will be added to deliveries for the holiday season.
Featuring Amonhotekh’s Guard, Combat Patrol: Necrons includes 19 miniatures, led by a Tachyon Arrow Overlord, 3 Skorpekh Destroyers with Plasmacytes, 3 Scarab Swarms, and 10 Necron Warriors.
In Combat Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus, the Purge Corps Deltic-9 is represented by 19 miniatures, led by Tech-Priest Manipulus Skand.
Each boxed set includes a complete set of rules for running Combat Patrol-style skirmishes with the Serberys Sulphurhounds, Pteraxii Sterylizors, and Skitarii Vanguards. As well as providing alternate streamlined rules for quick-playing Combat Patrol, these boxed sets are great entry points for Warhammer 40k armies.
Games Workshop states that the new Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol box replaces an existing box. however, you can field both forces in Combat Patrol games, so the current box will not need to be replaced.
The rules for the new Combat Patrols will be included in each faction’s Warhammer 40k Codexes. The Adeptus Mechanicus will be the next Warhammer 40k faction to receive a Codex, followed by the Necrons. Each codex will be announced prior to the Christmas deliveries.
Two enhancements will be available for the Tech Priest Manipulus in this combat patrol. One is the Aspergila of Tarentum, which gives -1 to wounds to enemies targeting the bearer. By adding 6″ to the range of ranged weapons in the bearer’s unit, as well as Ignore Cover, the Overcharged Electropositors are rather more offensive.
This new release will rectify the current lack of a Combat Patrol box set for Necrons. The rules for the Necrons Combat Patrol can already be downloaded from Games Workshop’s website.
