Part 2 of Warhammer 40K: Darktide Comes This Month
It has been one year since Warhammer 40K: Darktide landed after a rocky launch. It has returned to its roots with major changes to core systems to make it more playable. A successful makeover has resulted in a free expansion, The Traitor Curse. The first part was released last month, and now we get the details for the second, with a promise to have it ready for the holidays.
Notably, a new story cinematic was introduced in part one, along with a new zone and mission featuring a creepy carnival, an inspection feature, and a rebalance to the Veteran’s talent tree. Part two promises to keep grimdark times rolling with another new mission.
This mission sends you into the carnival’s “back alleys” to reveal and destroy the cult’s production facilities. There will also be a special encounter during missions—a fight with the Karnak Twins.
However, the most notable part of this second part is the Stimms. It is in the glass syringes that the game will change the most. This is an update that introduces Stimms, which are consumables that have healing, damage boosting, speed boosting, and cool down reducing effects.
The magic potions in Vermintide 2 are an excellent resource for players to use for crucial moments like boss fights. Stimms are quite similar and will boost platers’ abilities. It is certainly a great element of tactical depth in this new Darktide.
In addition, new “Marks” of weaponry will be released with unique stats and attributes. A “foldable” shovel, for instance, is teased in the press release as a new variant of the Stub Revolver that shoots bullets with its fan.
It’s hard to envision how making your weapon slightly more portable will be helpful in a battle against endless waves of Nurgle cultists. However, I’m looking forward to finding out. Furthermore, there will be lots more Marks in addition to those two.
