Cities of Sigmar Update Dumps 13 Warhammer Army Kits
Going, going, gone! Games Workshop has decided to eliminate 13 cherished Warhammer kits from the Age of Sigmar factions. An announcement posted on the community blog revealed earlier today, Thursday.
Why Are They Been Removed?
According to the blog post, these kits are only used during the construction of 21 units, and none of these units will be part of the next Cities of Sigmar battle tome.
The complete list of model kits being removed from the Age of Sigmar range, that won’t appear in Cities of Sigmar are as follows:
- Freeguild general on foot
- Freeguild Crossbowmen / Freeguild Handgunners
- Freeguild Guard
- Hellblaster Volley Gun / Hellstorm Rocket Battery
- Freeguild Pistoliers / Freeguild Outriders
- Freeguild Greatswords
- Demigryph Knights
- Flamespyre Phoenix / Frostheart Phoenix
- Phoenix Guard
- Wildwood Rangers / Eternal Guard
- Sisters of the Thorn / Wild Riders
- Araloth / Noble Prince
- Shadow Warriors / Sisters of Avalorn
The thread continued to explain that some of these model kits would find their way back to the game in the future release Warhammer: The Old World. The post stated specifically that “many of these aren’t gone for good, and will, in fact, be returning in due course under the banner of The Old World.‘
Some critics are already curious and are posing questions and sounding the doom on most of these model kits. After all, Games Workshop only mentioned “many” and not all of them. It may be a oneway road or exit strategy.
In addition, the post made it clear that they were being removed “to make way for these new models”. The outgoing classic models, all began life as Empire, High Elf, and Wood Elf models in the original Warhammer Fantasy Battles game. We will just have to sit tight and wait for Warhammer: The Old World to which ones are brought back to the game or which we have lost for good.
