Ruinstorm Army Gets New Free Rules
Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy 2.0 has updated the Daemons of the Ruinstorm army list. The new dibs grants freedom to field your favorite daemon model.
The Warhammer Community website has been updated with a new list of Daemons of the Ruinstorm army units. The new rules are now available for download from the website.
After centuries of denying the existence of supernatural forces, the Imperium of Man slowly begins to accept that the Warhammer Chaos gods exist. As compared to Warhammer 40k, Chaos powers are far less distinct and formless during the Horus Heresy era. Therefore, the Daemons of the Ruinstorm army list is extremely flexible and open-ended.
Notably, Ruinstorm rules can be adapted quite easily to accommodate models of Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, or Tzeentch. Plus, there are no specific rules governing them.
However, the ‘Aetheric Dominions’ expansion gives your entire detachment additional special rules, some of which align with specific Chaos gods. Apart from adjusting individual unit abilities, the expansion also adds additional special rules to the entire detachment.
All Daemons from the ‘Heedless Slaughter’ Dominion are distinctly Khornate and must charge when within 8” of an enemy,
- gaining +1 to charge rolls,
- +1 to combat resolution results,
- +1 to sweeping advance rolls.
The Nurglish Putrid Corruption Dominion grants a 5+ damage mitigation roll against most attacks, plus the Heavy unit type.
The freedom of this update is immense. Even the lost fifth Chaos God, Malal, is mentioned. This diety appeared in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay’s first edition but is not owned by Games Workshop.
Likewise, the Aetheric Dominion ‘Ravenous Dissolution’ grants units +1 to hit Daemon, Psyker, Corrupted, or Independent Character units in melee combat during the first round.
Although Legion Esoterrists can summon Ruinstorm daemons, they will never enter a coalition with any other army. According to the Warhammer Community article, this list is better suited to narrative play than tournament
