Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Release Date
It has been a long, long wait, but it is finally revealed. The Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 official release date has been set for September 9, 2024. The release was announced in a trailer from game studio Saber Interactive.
Although the release date is now set, most players are still disappointed having pinned their hopes on an earlier date. However, developers have argued in favor of a fully polished game and an innovative edition that would woo more players to the game. Space Marines has ignited hope in the franchise.
“We want to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience,” their November business update said.
Developed at Saber Interactive, Space Marine 2 is an explosive third-person shooter/melee hybrid set in Games Workshop’s famous grimdark Warhammer 40,000 universe. Space Marine 2 pits Lieutenant Titus of the Ultramarines against Tyranid forces. Players assume the role of the commander and fight alongside Thousand Sons Chaos Marines.
Space Marine 2 is set to be another entry in the expansive Warhammer 40,000 universe, drawing inspiration from Syama Pedersen’s Astartes fan film. Players battle oceans of Tyranids. Earlier this year, Saber revealed more Space Marine 2 gameplay, promising a gritty third-person action experience.
“We are thrilled to finally reveal the release date for Space Marine 2. The entire team has poured their passion and creativity into this game, and we can’t wait for players to experience it at last. It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re excited to share the fruits of our labor with players and the Warhammer 40,000 community,” said Tim Willits, COO of Saber Interactive.
Not writers are as eager to praise the Warhammer Franchise though. One writer from Shotgun noted:
”I’m quietly very pumped for Space Marine 2. I’m no Warhammer head, but I’m quite taken with its World War Z-esque horde stomping. If it’s even a fraction of the God Of War game it looks like it wants to be, I’m here for it, to be honest. And hey, after enjoying Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters recently, I find myself increasingly drawn to the daft, over-the-top drama of the 40Kverse more generally. It’s dumb, but a good kind of dumb, you know?”
