Total War Warhammer 3 DLC Prices to Increase
Game studio Creative Assemble has announced a price increase for Total Warhammer 3 DLC. The company cited the high inflation and an unstable economy as the basis for its price adjustment.
According to the game developer, current prices for the upcoming game release on August 31 will see a slight increase in value. The new update, Shadows of Change, will start at $24.99, an increase of $10 in comparison with the current game, Chaos Dwarfs.
In addition, the company outlined a response to players’ complaints and dissatisfaction as expressed via Steam.
The company acknowledges the price increase is noticeable. It also understands the concerns expressed by the gaming community. However, the studio maintains that Warhammer 3 needs to be supported and content provided for decades to come.’
Nonetheless, players have continued to voice their disapproval. Steam has been plagued with mostly negative reviews, amounting to more than 2.000 at present. One player was not shy in expressing his disappointment, he said:
“They add the bare minimum of new factions they can get away with and then charge you half the price of the full game to add a new one every few months. I get needing to make money…but this just leaves a sour taste in my mouth that makes me not ever come back to your games.”
Responding to the barrage of negative reviews on Steam, Creative Assembly’s chief product officer Rob Bartholomew stated.
“We know any increase is going to be tough, which is why our prices have remained fairly stable over the past few years. The downside is that any increase today is going to be more noticeable. There’s no good time to increase prices, and we have not taken this step lightly. However, this is the business reality of supporting Warhammer 3 and ensuring we’re able to offer the years of extra content that are currently planned.”
