Fatshark to Expand Warhammer: Darktide
Game development studio Fatshark has shared the company’s plan for an extensive overhaul to Warhammer: Darktide. The studio is known for its attentiveness to players’ feedback and has won tons of users for the feature. Since the game’s launch, the company has made great leeway into the industry/
During a blog post, Darktide, which currently has 108,395 users according to SteamDB, spoke about its intentions for 2024.
“Our first update will focus on a comprehensive revamp and expansion of the penance system, including adding many additional rewards and a completely new way to earn them,” the message to fans would say.
The penance system is the game’s progress and reward tracker. As the conscript, you do not get rewards as you attempt to win back the God-Emperor’s favor; instead, you give penance to his temple at the end of the game. Instead, you gain penance in the eyes of all-seeing religious organizations that allow you to purchase cosmetics, trinkets, and a whole host of other items as penance
Notably, the studio is looking to overhaul its “current itemization process. With the new system, we want to remove a lot of the unpredictable grind that came from an RNG-heavy system while giving players more agency and a steady progression toward specific load-outs, blessings, and stats refinement.”
Fatshark goes on to say that in 2024, they will be adding new “missions, new enemies, new weapons, new conditions, and new features alongside balance updates, quality of life additions, along with some other surprises which we will share in due time.”
In addition, Fatshark will not provide much detail on the revamp of the game’s internal mechanics. The studio will document the progress with videos and blog posts and will “be sharing more information on this update by the end of the month along with a dev blog, so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to learn more.”
